ACC Official Colors

Primary Color Palette

Purple and white are Austin Community College’s official colors. These specific colors reinforce the ACC brand and support brand awareness. The color codes are:

Primary Accent Color

ACC’s bright yellow accent color adds a dynamic touch to our brand, providing emphasis and drawing attention to important elements. Apply this color sparingly to highlight calls to action, key information, and interactive elements, such as hyperlinked text.

Secondary Color Palette

The secondary palette supports and enhances the primary colors. These colors should be used to create visual interest and depth without overpowering the primary palette.

Use Secondary Colors Sparingly

  • Purple and white should always be the most prominent colors in any marketing materials.
  • Secondary colors must not exceed 10% of the total color palette of any design; never use large floods of a secondary color.
  • Under no circumstances should secondary colors be the predominant, signifying color for a department, center, program, or office.

Color codes for secondary palette colors are:

Accessibility and Readability

Make sure your text is easy to read and meets contrast ratio standards.

Color combinations for text must meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 to comply with the College’s accessibility standards. Black text on purple and purple text on black does not meet this standard and should generally be avoided as a foreground/background pair. Use this contrast checker to ensure your digital text meets contrast ratio guidelines.

Other Tips for Using Color

  • Avoid using color as the only way to convey information or display an error message. Use text or an icon as well.
  • When creating a digital document (like a PDF), don’t rely on color alone to designate links in case the document is switched to grayscale.
