Working with Vendors
Understanding the rules for working with vendors will facilitate the ordering process and ensure your items meet brand standards.
Remember, all merchandise featuring ACC’s name, programs or trademarks must be purchased from a licensed vendor, regardless of whether the purchase is subject to royalties. Obtain a price quote from the vendor to start the approval process.
See additional important information at Applying the ACC Brand: Promotional Items and Apparel and ACC Trademarks and Registration Symbols.
Contracted Vendors
ACC contracts with vendors to obtain the best quality and pricing for a variety of merchandise. These vendors are selected through the required RFP process to ensure they meet ACC’s standards, are appropriately licensed, and adhere to the required trademark approval procedures. Working with contracted vendors also allows for seamless requisitions and payments.
Non-contracted or Unlicensed Vendors
Ordering through non-contracted, unlicensed vendors may significantly delay your order. Prospective vendors must complete the legal process of trademark licensing, which can take six weeks or longer. ACC’s Procure to Pay (P2P) also may deny your request if a contracted vendor can provide the service, since pre-approved vendors are already under contract with the College.
ACC licensing is managed by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). Applications can be submitted via the CORE81 platform.
A listing in ACC’s vendor directory does not mean a vendor is “approved” to print merchandise. Prospective licensees must complete the legal process for trademark licensing.
If you are solicited by other merchandise vendors, inform them that the ACC vendor listing is not the same as submitting the CLC application. Non-contracted vendors may contact [email protected] for more information or to confirm licensing status.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if a vendor is licensed or pre-approved?
ACC’s Licensed and Contracted Vendors are listed above. Anyone purchasing items with ACC funds should use these vendors.
Licensed retail vendors produce merchandise for retailers (like the ACC Bookstores). ACC departments may also request quotes from these vendors, but custom designs may take significantly longer.
We used a particular vendor before. Aren’t they licensed?
Not necessarily. Only current vendors in good standing are licensed to use ACC trademarks. Please use ACC’s contracted vendors for speed, efficiency, and pricing.
Can I order from a discount vendor online, or from a friend who can provide a good rate?
Whether it’s a big online company or your best pal’s t-shirt shop, unlicensed vendors and new vendors must apply for a license through Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). This takes time, and not all vendors will be approved, so we recommend using ACC’s contracted vendors who have been evaluated for speed, quality, and reliability, and they are all Austin-based businesses.
Working with unlicensed dealers is usually more trouble than it’s worth.
Can I buy ACC merchandise somewhere else?
You can buy your own shirts, mugs, and Riverbats merchandise at the ACC Bookstores. Faculty and staff get a discount, and 10% of the sales go back to ACC.
