The Office of College Relations and Marketing works with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to manage the use of Austin Community College’s name, logos, and marks on apparel, promotional items, and other merchandise.
The College name, logos, and official slogans including “Riverbats”, “Start Here. Get There.”, and “i am acc” are trademarked and are the exclusive property of ACC. Licenses must be obtained for the use of any ACC trademark or image.
Use of all ACC identity marks is strictly guarded. Improper use will be subject to legal action. If you have any questions, need color logos, or need high-resolution logos, email [email protected].
Legal Notice
The Austin Community College and “ACC” name, logo and trademarks, wordmarks, slogans, and other identifying symbols are the property of the Austin Community College District and are protected by federal and local law.
Any unauthorized use of these or misleadingly similar names or marks, by any entity or individual without express written consent of the ACC District will be deemed a violation of the College’s statutory and/or common law rights, and the College will take any and all steps necessary to protect such rights.
Commercial use and reproduction without express written permission is strictly prohibited. This includes use by non-business groups or individuals, employees, charities and other organizations.
The use of any Austin Community College District name, logo or trademark on any product or in connection with a manufacturer, wholesaler, screen printer, in-store producer or any other supplier must be managed under a written agreement: other commercial use and reproduction without express written permission is strictly prohibited.
Registered Symbols
Any wordmarks, trademarks, logos, symbols, and/or elements associated with ACC’s visual identity on merchandise and apparel must be accompanied by the appropriate registration mark. That may be a ® or ™ symbol, depending on the legal registration status of the trademark displayed.
ACC departmental and secondary signatures are not required to have a ® or ™ symbol. We recommend the symbol be on the bottom right of the artwork if possible and be small but visible. In most cases, the symbol should be no larger than .25 inches. This will require adjustment depending on the product size.
Exceptions and Exemptions
Certain materials are exempted from trademark and licensing rules. When in doubt, contact the Office of College Relations & Marketing (OCRM).
- On-campus materials: Handouts, workbooks, faculty materials, classroom and campus notices do not require logo approval. If you use the ACC logo, please review rules for using the ACC District logo and the Riverbat logo.
- Student clubs may not be required to use an ACC logo on merchandise, depending on the funding source. Student clubs should route merchandise requests through the Office of Student Life. Learn more at ACC Branding: Student Organizations and Clubs.
- Facilities, signage, campus installations: Contact OCRM about artwork in advance to make sure logos and trademarks are printed correctly. Vendors for fleet decals, parking signs, uniforms, and other facility needs can be given a one-time, limited use license.
- Sole-source vendors: Any external use of ACC logos and trademarks must be approved through OCRM in advance. If a specialty printing company is considered a “sole-source” provider, they may be exempt from the licensing requirement. Please work directly with OCRM for design, approvals, and release forms.
- Crafter’s licenses: Special licenses can be provided for artisans creating hand-made items in small quantities. Custom metalwork, pottery, hand-painted items, and other crafts can be produced for fundraisers and other special sales. Individuals should contact OCRM for more information.
