ACC is exploring opportunities to incorporate generative AI (artificial intelligence) to improve efficiency and productivity. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published a draft AI Risk Management Framework to help organizations use a formal approach to managing AI risks. The Framework lists the following attributes of trustworthy AI:
- Valid & Reliable. Generative AI systems pull from existing information to create an output. It is important to conduct a thorough review to ensure the output is accurate and does not infringe on an existing trademark.
- Ethical & Fair. Ensure AI technologies are used in a way that aligns with ethical considerations, such as data privacy and bias avoidance.
- Transparent & Accountable. Disclose the use of AI in content creation and customer interactions.
- Privacy. Remember that the information you put into an AI system is not necessarily kept confidential. When asking a generative AI system, avoid providing confidential information.
Any implementation of AI is subject to applicable College administrative rules, policies, and standards.
To support the safe and effective integration of AI, the College is developing additional, clear guidelines. These guidelines will help ensure any AI-generated content aligns with ACC’s brand identity, values, and messaging standards, and will provide a clear process for reviewing and approving AI-generated content before it is published.
