ACC is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community for all students, faculty, and staff. The following policies are mandatory for certain communications and should be thoughtfully considered before materials are finalized.
For inquiries regarding the policies outlined below, please reach out to the Office of Equal Opportunity Compliance.
Nondiscrimination Statement
Required by federal law, this statement is designed to make clear to prospective applicants or participants the college’s commitment to equal opportunity in employment and equal access to its programs and activities.
Using the Nondiscrimination Statement in Printed Materials
The nondiscrimination statement is required on all official communications and materials, including recruitment publications, brochures, and postcards where you are describing college programs or offerings. It also is required on all job postings (included in the ACC system by default). The statement must be legible, using an adequate point size and high contrast.
All institutional and departmental publications that describe or invite participation in programs at the college—such as brochures, pamphlets, manuals, and guidebooks—must include the following statement:
Austin Community College (“ACC” or “College”) is an equal education and equal employment opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination in employment at the College and access to its programs or activities on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 and older), veteran status or military service, disability, genetic information or any other basis prohibited by local, state, or federal law. This includes the prohibition of discrimination, including harassment, against any employee, applicant for employment, student, or applicant for admission. ACC will take steps to ensure that the lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in all educational and vocational programs.

Accessibility Statement
Austin Community College is required by federal law to inform the public of their rights and protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This includes access to accommodations such as auxiliary aids, interpreters, or other reasonable accommodation requests while attending college-sponsored public events.
Using the Accessibility Statement in Printed Materials
Use the accessibility statement on all event communications, such as flyers, invitations, and brochures where you are inviting an individual to campus. The statement must be legible, using an adequate point size and high contrast. Include the sponsoring department name or contact person and telephone number.
In compliance with the College’s obligations under applicable federal and state law, all institutional and departmental publications that describe or invite public participation in events or programs at the College are required to include the following statement:
“Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all ACC-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact [insert sponsoring department or contact person] in advance at [insert telephone number].”
The sponsoring department name or contact person and telephone number must be incorporated into the statement, as it is the responsibility of the sponsoring department, which is most familiar with the event, to make the necessary reasonable accommodations.
